Electric Vehicles’ Raison d’être Loses its Charge
Add to this problem that EV production is more energy inefficient due to the need to ship battery materials back and forth across the pacific ocean many times. The whole thing becomes a fiasco. A shockingly costly fiasco.
There is a solution, make the EV small and light. Reduce the battery size make it a commuter and around town vehicle intended to be a second or third vehicle and perhaps these problems could be moderated. I doubt it, but it might be worth a try.
The EV is an expensive toy for wealthy boys to show off to their wealthy bros while seeking virtue/status points from other fops.
This is the problem with the political left, they have an allergy to facts and reality. Instead of evaluating EVs as they are, they want to evaluate them as a leftist fantasy, the perfect solution to the current nearly perfected automobiles.
They did the same thing with ethanol in motor vehicle fuel. It takes the same amount of energy (or more) from petrol fuels to make a gallon of ethanol. So, ethanol does not reduce petrol fuel use, but it does add additional carbon to the atmosphere. This is insanity if your goal is to reduce atmospheric CO2.
But then I want more atmospheric CO2, I want it to be above 1,000 ppm to maximize worldwide plant growth. Also because I understand how close the world was during the last ice age to life extinction. Atmospheric CO2 was near 180 ppm, extinction will occur at about 150 ppm CO2.
The earth CO2 levels over the past 600 million years have been at least as high as 7,000 ppm and for the vast majority of the time were above 2,000 ppm. The current antiscientific nonsense that 400 ppm is too high is a sign of the low quality of our scientists in the climate studies departments of our universities.
