Meet ‘Generation Snowflake’ – the hysterical young women who can’t cope with being offended There is nothing new under the sun. We had bossy little girls made by bossy mothers who grew up into bossy college girls, and then women, like Hillary Clinton, way back in the antediluvian era when I was but a college sprat. More after the break. Everyone I knew and respected simply ignored them, with either a metaphorical pat on the head or a verbal FU. This worked like a charm they fretted and stewed, we ignored them, and the world continued on it merry way unperturbed.
The snowflakes seem to be a problem mostly because wimpy college administrators are incapable of standing up to these whingey, bossy, hyper-sensitive fascists. Instead of simply telling them their ideas are idiotic, they give in to them. Once the snowflake wins, they use the bully negotiating stratagem to demand more, and more. This never ends, because their goals are only to assuage their insecurities. This is a malignant form of the mass movement discussed by Eric Hoffer in his book The True Believer (Amazon has it cheap - your reading assignment is to read it by mid summer). Even advising a male child to attend college today is parental malpractice. The "adults" in charge are not adults, and they are not in charge. The college zoo has been taken over by fascist snowflakes intent on creating an environment where they are constantly badgering and bullying the others, who they expect to cow. These snowflakes are so deeply insecure they cannot see that what they are doing is completely counterproductive. By banding together in a mass under the gonfalon of feminism, they hide and assuage their negative feelings about the self, subverting them, and empowering themselves through meretricious, unmerited accolade. By giving in the administrators only feed the insecurity, and make the snowflakes need to bully greater. While these two are perfect for each other, they are not perfect for the others on campus, and frankly the adults should do what they are supposed to do, take charge, rinse the fascism out of the bullies, teach them what their parents failed to teach, morals, ethics, self-discipline, and maintain a semblance of order. Instead we are treated to an insecure immaturity spectacle where administrators and snowflakes attempt to out do each other with their fascist antics, all at a cost of $30,000-$60,000 per year per pupil.
