Lasik surgery has also declined and for the same reasons. Since most insurance in America is paid for by employers, or government (about 85% of total insurance) the price of medical care covered by these policies has continued to rise. To fix this we need to make the users of the medical procedures, the same as the person paying for the insurance, and the medical payments. HSA's and high deductible medical payments reimbursement policies will take care of this.
In the end, whether wages have, or have not stagnated, prices on most items have fallen dramatically, quality has improved dramatically, and the standard of living of the average American has skyrocketed. We live today like kings.
