Uber drivers are contractors, not employees, U.S. labor agency says
They are the boss and the worker they need a union to represent them!
The new employment model will have no employees. Amazon is working a pace to achieve that laudable goal. If workers are reasonable, they will understand the lay of the land and begin to find ways to walk away from employment and create a need in the company for their services as independent contractors.
This change will pay workers much better, give workers full autonomy to when and where they want while offering businesses a large pool of qualified help which can bid to provide myriad services to the business. The tradeoff is workers will have to work, and we know that more than half of workers do very little work every working day. After all workers in the US are only productive for about 3 out of 8 work hours. If the workers want to make more, they will need to find out how to increase their productivity.
This is what makes this system so desirable from the workers perspective, the employers perspective, and from the social perspective: better wage, more autonomy, more liberty, and more productivity.
The downside is that those who have not been working will be frustrated and angry that they now must work for their pay.
