America’s Biofuel Boondoggle rife with Fraud
It creates the ground work for crony socialism where businesses more interested in sucking at the government tit can expend a small amount of money focused at a few politicians, and reap huge rewards when those politicians grant the company largesse.
More after the break.
Or, as in this case, it simply generates actual fraud, and results in millions of dollars in economic damage and costs to consumers. But hey, politicians don't give a hoot about consumers, if they did crony socialism would not exist.
"Fraud isn’t the only issue with America’s biofuels problem. The quota system has raised global food prices, starving the world’s poor and potentially inciting riots abroad. It has cost drivers billions of dollars (billions!), and maybe worst of all—it’s actually been bad for the environment."
Like I said, if the politicians were anything but venal money grubbing trolls, the system would not enrich their friends, impoverish consumers, wreak havoc on food prices, further pauperize the poor, and kill the environment.
When the hoi polloi comes for these politicians with torch, and pitchfork, they will all quote Niemoller. They will have earned the tar, feathers, stout rope, and lampposts. Far be it from me to stand between a man, and his earnings.
