A 15% corporate tax is a good start, but zero would be better by far. The corporate tax is little more than a hidden VAT tax on individuals, and hurts the poor the greatest. Corporations cannot pay tax, just as no sheaf of papers in a file in a Secretary of State's office cannot pay tax. So, someone else, a real human, must pay the tax. Progressives believe that it will be paid by the shareholders, or rich fat cats. But it is not. It is paid for by the consumers, without their knowledge through higher prices on products and services.
Best to just eliminate that tax, and the personal income tax, and the estate/gift tax, and go with a consumption tax on retail purchases. This way everyone knows exactly how much the tax is, and they can avoid it, to some extent by limiting purchases. We could then assist our poorer Americans with an enhanced Earned Income Tax Credit to the extent it is needed. Even cutting the corporate tax to 15% would change the business landscape, and many manufacturing business would move here from overseas, due to our high quality labor pool, low energy prices, and low (or with my plan, zero) corporate tax rate. "'If you were foreign power looking to weaken America you couldn’t do better than Hillary Clinton’s economic agenda,” he said. “Every policy she has tilts the playing field to other countries at our expense.” Mrs Clinton, due to make her own economic address on Thursday, has offered a plan that would largely continue current policies, though like Mr Trump she takes a harder line on trade." Both are atrocious on trade, and this is where Trump, and Hillary tilts the playing field away from America. Free imports are the only reasonable trade policy. "But Marc Golden of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget warned that Mr Trump’s tax-cutting plans could backfire economically by radically driving up government debt." Or we could be rational, and cut spending, it will have to be done, our entitlements will soon eat the entire budget, and then even borrowing will not fix the problem. Better now then after the collapse. But they are politicians, sand, so, fools.
