The ‘legacy of the welfare state’ vs. the ‘legacy of slavery’…..
The tragedy here that should hit home for each, and every one of us is the shocking loss to the community of the skills, traits, and gifts these people have but which are wasted.
"You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization — including work, behavioral standards, personal responsibility and all the other basic things that the clever intelligentsia disdain — without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large."
But that is exactly what progressives do, they destroy these people by forcing on them a system which is designed to ensure they are, and remain little more than feral humans. How many great inventors, business men, and statesmen have come from humble beginnings? How many are we losing to the progressive paean of Black Lives Matter, or other racist nonsense?
While this is not just a black issue, it effects blacks disproportionately. We need to rethink our social system, particularly the ones which provide a safety net for the less fortunate. We need to make sure all of these systems not exempt any individuals from civilizing requirements, and instead demand that they include strong incentives towards ensuring these people are exceeding the behavioral standards, personal responsibility standards, and other requirements of civilized society.
Stripping these people of their humanity, corralling them, and husbanding them as if they were animals is a violation of their human rights. We need to change this now.
