Lyft: Most of our rides will be in self-driving cars in 5 years
I tend to agree. The wealthy will hold on to ownership, the poor, and lower classes will quickly find low cost share rides are a boom to their finances. Most importantly, the self drive, hail, share ride car will completely eliminate the ability of public transit to compete. The result will be even most of the poor will be able to then have affordable, door-to-door, car service. This will allow them to leverage their skills more, and earn higher wages.
The public transit agencies, the transportation planners, the urban planners, the unions, and the parasites like the transit mafia of contractor, and other hangers-on will infarct, good. We need fewer of these parasites, and more actual solutions to real problems.
I for one, want my garage space back. I do not think most parents want to spend hours every day carting, and schlepping their kids to activities, nor do I think that the poor should have to live with second, or really, third class public transit.
