Chicago Teachers, School Board Clinch Last-Minute Deal to Avert Strike
"The Chicago Public School teachers union and school board reached a tentative contract agreement on Monday after negotiations went down to the wire to make a midnight deadline.
Thousands of teachers had planned to strike if a deal wasn’t reached.
The agreement, which still has to be ratified by voting union members, includes providing teachers with a cost-ofliving increase of 4.5% over the duration of a four-year contract. No date has been set for teachers to vote and there is no deadline for it. "
