Instapundit Six Tips for Reducing Airport Security Hassles
. . . simply not to fly. Short Maddog story follows!
At one of the law firms I worked for, we had two planes, and two pilots, and a couple of other commercial pilots who could fly if necessary. I flew to many hearing, trials, depositions, etc, once on the ground, the pilot would hop in the waiting car, and drive me to the destination, then, when done, would drive me back to the plane, and fly us back home. I never spent a night away from home, always slept in my own bed.
I was spoiled rotten.
When I left that firm, I continued to use one of the backup pilots, and his plane, until I finally retired. I suspect those days are now long gone, and attorney's are very unlikely to find clients willing to pay for such perks.
This made flying commercial difficult, the entire cattle call, the queue to board, the jostling, and carting luggage is supremely unpleasant. What makes this amusing, is that while I could spend the money to fly like this, but I am too cheap. Heh!
It was fun while it lasted!
