Still Migrating to Texas and Florida: 2013-2014 IRS Data | Newgeography.com
Nothing here is particularly surprising, blue states (California, New York, Illinois) continue to hemorrhage residents to Texas, Florida, the West, and also South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
Attraction rates (in migrants per 100 out migrants) are interesting with Texas, South Carolina, Florida, and Oregon topping the list. While Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Mexico, and Massachusetts bottom the list.
The rest of the data is quite interesting. A note on Oregon, much of the in migration is retirees moving from states with lower housing affordability, both Washington, and California looking for a lower priced home, and the West's moderate weather, Oregon fits the bill. However, they bring little economic activity to the game, and Oregon is losing because so much of its limited residential properties (we have an urban growth boundary) is being bought up by low economic activity elderly. The state is slowly ossifying.
Any way, dig in and enjoy.
