Self drive car to the rescue

A huge disconnect is emerging between car buyers and the US government

Government wants you to drive puny cars, we want to drive something more powerful. What we should require is that every single automobile in the federal arsenal outside of the military, meet these standards, today, including senior level politicians, and bureaucrats. Include requirements that their personal vehicles also meet these standards.

The rest of us will not likely wrestle with this nonsense much longer. The self drive car is set to revolutionize transportation, and once the computer is driving, none of us will care about whether the car has a big engine or small. We will be much more concerned about smooth ride, comfort, ease of use, etc. 

That will only leave private human drive autos which will likely be driven on closed tracks, for insurance purposes. Why would the government have any role in a vehicle one only drives occasionally, for fun or sport? Yeah, it will want to maintain this role, so we will have to kill it, but government size could use quite a bit of killing. 

Today we see government focused on all manner of things which will not be problems in the next 10-20 years, mostly because the politicians, and bureaucrats have no idea how to interpret the changes going on in the world. 

Technology is speeding past them, and they are caught floundering, trying to regulate things far past their ability to understand or regulate. 

In 20 years the world will be a very different place.
