Europe Struggling to Decide Whether Climate is Still a Priority
. . . because the inane is safe, easy, and like sports provides something to discuss without repercussions.
The last days of the dying Roman Empire! Great analogy, Europe must either create a United States of Europe, or return to something more limited like a free trade deal, but its current incarnation is destroying the Southern European countries, while enticing them to remain in the union with low cost debt. They all remember what it was like borrowing at high interest rates, and being forever trapped. Then after joining the EU they lived the halcyon days of low interest, and happy days. Now hoisted on their own petard, they pine for those halcyon days of yore. They elude them today, and will again tomorrow. Yet, they cannot come to grips with this truth. Instead they convince themselves of a return, if only . . .
The stones of this machine grind ever so finely, and until most of the Southern European nations are completely ground, the politicians will hold out hope. At a great cost to the people.
If Britain has any sense, Brexit!
