Venezuelan Apocalypse II: More updates on the epic failure of socialism in oil-rich Venezuela
One of the wealthiest nations in the world has driven its economy beyond the brink. All because the knobs running the place are too hidebound to admit they were wrong, socialism is a human disaster, this time, and every time.
More below the fold.
The good Professor encapsulates the madness by noting:
"Despite what maybe should have been an obvious outcome and end-game of the socialist policies of Chavez and Maduro, it’s interesting to look back at the cheer-leading being peddled by some on the left as recently as 2013 for Chavez and Venezuela’s socialism, here are two examples: Example 1. Writing in Salon in March 2013, David Sirota extolled “Hugo Chavez’s economic miracle.” Example 2. In November 2013, left-leaning economist Mark Weisbrot scolded “Venezuela haters” by claiming that “this economy is not the Greece of Latin America,” and warning the haters (aka sensible adults) that “predicting a Venezuelan apocalypse won’t make it happen.”
Nor will whistling past the graveyard alter the outcome. We knew what the outcome would be, and now we are stuck living with the outcome, mostly because imbeciles like Mark Weisbrot, David Sirota, and myriad other socialist sycophants continue to encourage foolish dictators to engage in what amounts to a delayed human mincing machine. We have known the outcome of socialism for decades, no nation falling into the trap has escaped yet. What mental disease could be driving these people?
And to compound the matter, we also know how large the body counts tend to be, shockingly massive, beyond human comprehensive large.
