"The incredible village in Yemen perched on a gigantic boulder that looks like a fortress from a fantasy film"
I found a place similar in Italy back in the early 1990s before it became a known tourist spot, Civita de Bagnoregio. I was fortunate enough to find the owner of one of the apartments who graciously allowed us to rent the place. There were no rental accommodations in the village, and tourists only came on weekends, and then only for a few hours 10 - 4 or so.
We had the place to ourselves, and the 50 or so people living in the village at the time. We met everyone, and had a terrific time!
Here is a YouTube video which captures the place quite well. The high cliff walls resemble the boulder cliff walls of the Yemen village.
