How progressives envision the future, your future, not theirs

Mesmerising colour photographs of people in the 19th century

The photos are beautiful, and interesting, but how many would honestly return to the difficulty, the toil of the premodern world? But the latest progressive fad, global warming, er, climate change, demands it, and our betters are very willing to sacrifice your modern conveniences for their latest faddish belief.

More below.
Do Air Conditioners Cause Global Warming?

But the question is not whether they warm the environment but whether that warming is sufficiently abnormal to be catastrophic. This is assumed by the warming alarmist, but there is no evidence which points here other than man made climate models which have been drastically wrong since their creation.

Leonardo DiCaprio criticised for taking private jet from Cannes to collect environmental award

"Leonardo DiCaprio has been criticised for taking a private jet from Cannes to New York to pick up an environmental award – before jetting back to Cannes to continue partying.

The actor, who in February used his Oscar acceptance speech to demand greater action to combat climate change, was honored for his activism in New York on Wednesday."

Relax, he's an actor, math wasn't required. But until chuckleheads like Lenny begin to act as if this is a serious problem I will ignore them.

Lenny wants you to ride a bike. But he is unwilling to fly commercial. Unsurprising, he is your better.

The clothing of the serfs in the photos above are beautiful, it is all they had. The initial changes in industrial capitalism included a shift to mechanical weaving, which brought cheap, beautiful cloth, the same cloth the aristocrats had been able to wear. It was now available to the masses at incredibly low cost. And the serfs adopted it if only to emulate the aristocracy.

The Industrial Revolution brought more change, fast and furiously until today. Now, there is little difference between the wealthy, and the poor. Both wear cloths made from the same cloth, both ride in airplanes, and automobiles, both have air conditioning. The differences have become difficult for the neo-aristocrats to create. Private planes are incredible expensive, and while limousines are available, Uber allows the hoi polloi to be driven around by others, and even offers Uber Black a limousine like service at an affordable rate.

Our betters, in what they believe to be the neo-aristocracy, are constantly frustrated by the fact that the hoi polloi are economically rising, erasing the differences between them, and us.

Global warming offers yet another mechanism to slow our advance, to limit our ability to attain, or even eclipse what they have. It is little more than another opportunity for the wealthier progressives to raise the drawbridge, denying us entry.
