Deaf man jumps out of his truck, and attacks an off duty firefighter by attempting to climb through the passenger window, and either attack the firefighter, or grab his phone. The video shows the firefighter was surprised by this action. The story relates that the firefighter observed the man driving dangerously, and erratically and began to video him with his phone. The video ends as the firefighter quickly drives off to avoid the attacker.
"Schwartzreich added that Tullis pulled out his cell phone and began recording Peterman’s actions because he feared for his life and the safety of others. The footage ends as Tullis peels off from the scene. He had just finished a work shift and was heading home to his family." This much of the story is very odd. But the next part . . . "The 37-year-old was legally deaf and used sign language to communicate. He worked as a warehouse manager and as a theater stagehand. Joshua Tullis, 37, who is married and has children, has been placed on administrative duty, which is customary for any sheriff's officer under investigation. He has been with the department since 2008." Sheriff's officer? Huh? I thought Tullis was a firefighter? So, which is he? "Attorney Marc Wites, who has been retained by Peterman’s family, questioned Tullis' actions, wondering why the 37-year-old firefighter left the scene of the incident without rendering aid to the motorist, reported the Sun-Sentinel. Schwartzreich countered by arguing that his client was the true victim in the road-rage incident and had every right to get away from what he perceived to be a dangerous situation, rather than stay and risk being attacked. The firefighter’s lawyer added that a longer version of the cell phone recording, which has been handed over to the police, shows Peterman driving erratically, showing Tullis the middle finger and cutting him off." Double take! Whut? Why would anyone who videotaped a man driving dangerously, erratically, and then who was attacked, stop for this man? This is a job for the police. And what aid did this man need? He attacked Tullis, he did not appear to need aid. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. And the self drive car, which would have solved this problem before it was a problem.
