"According to Lott: “From 1950 to 2010, not a single mass public shooting occurred in an area where general civilians are allowed to carry guns. Over the entire period from 1950 through February 2016, just over one percent of mass public shootings occurred in such places.” Think about it—from 1950 through February of this year, “just over one percent of mass public shootings” occurred outside a gun-free zone."
The reason is obvious, because people in gun free zones are helpless. Yet progressives cannot fathom this simple easy to grasp concept, or that the millions of people with legal carry permits are the safe way to limit asymmetric crime. The deterrent effect alone is worth the cost to the public which is nothing.
It is time to require gun free zones insure against the very real problems of allowing individuals with weapons into these facilities. I would suggest making gun free zones strict liability zones for weapons based crimes. The land owners, who have chosen to make public spaces gun free zones should have to insure against this strict liability just as automobile drivers are required to carry liability insurance.
