Industry is slowly working towards the same employment outcomes as agriculture, sub 2% of total employment. This is a positive, it is how we increase productivity, and build wealth. I know, I know, wealth is all concentrated at the top. To cure this we need to eliminate the progressive socioeconomic model, leave the crony socialism behind, and allow the new employment businesses to build wealth, and transfer it to groups other than the most wealthy. There is no way to maintain the cancerous progressive model, and spread the wealth. The model is designed to do the opposite.
More importantly, note how smoothly government employment grows. There are few recessions which are deep enough to actually deflect the growth trend. Only the end of WWII, the 1980 recession, and the 2008 recession were sufficient to deflect the government employment trajectory, and then only nominally.
Manufacturing employment shows a much more choppy trend line which peaks in the 1970-80s, and then permanently declines. The fact that government employment suffers no significant recession is a clear indication that government growth is out of control. The primary change which needs to take place with the reformation of the progressive model is to reform government making it more efficient.
