Monbiot: The Climate Crisis has Arrived – but the Media are Keeping it Secret

Moonbat offers us a breathless account of his primordial fears of global climate annihilation.

"This, on current trends, will be the hottest year ever measured. The previous record was set in 2015; the one before in 2014. Fifteen of the 16 warmest years have occurred in the 21st century. Each of the past 14 months has beaten the global monthly temperature record. But you can still hear people repeating the old claim, first proposed by fossil fuel lobbyists, that global warming stopped in 1998." 

Again with the short data set to "prove" CAGW. And he is doubling down relying on the manipulated data. For those not in the know, the alarmist have been "correcting" the raw data for years, oddly the corrections always remove temperature from the past data, and add temperature to the current data. They say they are doing this to correct for things like the urban heat island effect. But the urban heat island effect causes modern cities to be warmer by up to about 7 degrees due to the heat sink effect of all that concrete, tarmac, steel, etc. So, they should be reducing the modern temperature wherever the urban heat island could be operative, but they add.

Also notice how Moonbat fails to tell you the timeline for his "hottest ever recorded" pap. If he did, you would laugh. This probably only goes back to about 1900, and is then being combined with the fraudulent data sets I discussed above. 

Plus, I wonder if the satellite data agrees with the "warmest year" allegations. He doesn't say because it likely does not. Only the manipulated physical station data is reliable enough for Moonbat.

"Arctic sea ice covered a smaller area last winter than in any winter since records began."  Again, dear Moonbat when did the recording begin 1900? No. 1960? No. 

"Arctic Sea ice extent is virtually impossible to accurately measure from the Earth's surface. The edges of the ice are ever changing and the sheer size of the ice mass (averaging two and half times the size of Canada) makes it difficult to measure directly on short time scales. To overcome the shortcomings of in situ observations, polar orbiting satellites began collecting data over the Arctic (as well as the Antarctic) in the 1970s. Scientists use radiometry data and visible imagery collected from the satellites to determine the sea ice extent. Each technique has its advantages and disadvantages, and more information can be found through the National Snow and Ice Data Center. Today a suite of NASA, NOAA, and Department of Defense satellites provide the data which is needed to accurately monitor sea ice extent on a daily, monthly, and annual basis."

So, by about 1980 we had pretty good data. Moonbat is in a conniption fit over an arctic sea ice data set of 35 years duration?!

"India has been hammered by cycles of drought and flood, as withering heat parches the soil and torches glaciers in the Himalayas. Southern and eastern Africa have been pitched into humanitarian emergencies by drought. Wildfires storm across America; coral reefs around the world are bleaching and dying."

He is pretty good at the wailing, and gnashing of teeth apocalyptical writing, perhaps God needs a writer to produce a new book, 2nd Revelation? None of these events listed are out of the ordinary, we are warming from the longest deeply cold periods in the Holocene, we should expect that glaciers would grow during this cold, and shrink during the rebound warming period. Droughts the world round are not due to global warming, but more often due to the periodic ocean occupations whether Atlantic, or Pacific, as well as other, normal climatic conditions, and solar events. Coral reefs are not bleaching, and drying due to global warming.

After this whinging Moonbat begins to breakdown into a weepy mess, blubbering about the WAPO and other nonsense. Moonbat has always been an odd read, he is a true believer, who doesn't wish to understand, and so limits his information to achieve his crystal clear incompetence.
