Commuter Rail Flops | The Antiplanner
Here in Portlandia we had to have a commuter rail, you know, like the big boys. It was named the WES, it should have been named the WUS for ridership and the LION for the cost.
More after the break.
"Portland’s commuter-rail line cost well over $100 million, carries just 900 round trips per weekday and around 0.2 percent of commuters and covers just 8 percent of operating costs."
Taxpayers will be paying for this for a very long time.
