Clinton and emails: A Touch of Evil, not the abstinence therefrom

Lynch meeting with Bill Clinton creates firestorm for email case

Just ironing out the finer points of what the meaning of "is" is.

"Lynch confirmed at a news conference Tuesday in Phoenix that she and her husband had spoken with the former president.

"Our conversation was a great deal about his grandchildren. It was primarily social and about our travels; he mentioned golf he played in Phoenix," Lynch said Tuesday afternoon at the Phoenix Police Department.

A law enforcement official familiar with the matter told CNN that Lynch's FBI security detail did not stop Clinton when he moved to initiate the extended conversation. The official said that Lynch was surprised to see Clinton walking onto her plane, adding that no official Justice Department business was conducted."

Right, he was just in the area, and thought he'd drop by for a little banter. "How's the battle axe, the grand kid . . . " You know, that personal banter that former Presidents have with current the Attorney General when his wife in under federal criminal investigation.

Sheesh.

"Lynch on Wednesday insisted that the meeting would not in any way affect the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server as secretary of State."

Move along, nothing to see here. 

"The White House said Lynch and President Obama are committed to conducting a fair investigation.

“I think the bottom line is simply that both the president and the attorney general understand how important it is for the Department of Justice to conduct investigations that are free of political interference,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters."

That's why they brought in an Independent Prosecutor to investigate the case, and direct the investigation, because they really, really wanted an investigation free from political interference from the White House, and the former President. Oh wait, wife just walked by and told me I am dead wrong, no such IP has been appointed. Blow me down.

"Top Democrats on Capitol Hill came to Lynch’s defense. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) said Lynch's ethics are "the best." Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), who is expected to be the next Senate Democratic leader, called Lynch "an honorable person."

"She has said nothing was discussed related to the investigation, so you have two choices: to say this didn't matter or she's lying. I think it didn't matter. I don't think she's lying.'"

Well, politicians (aka, lying sacks of shite) vouching for one's credibility, honesty, and honor make me wonder exactly what kind of person Lynch is! I wouldn't trust a politician to give me the straight poop on his favorite hooker. How naive would one need be to accept the assurances of a politician concerning one of his crony's credibility, honesty, or honor? 

Sorry boys, we were born, just not yesterday.

Make of this as you will, but it is little more than hubris that a Touch of Evil cannot taint the sainted Lynch. After hubris comes nemesis, this could get good!
