Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming fails unless data is limited to the period 1850 to present
The Sinkhole – Our Descent into the Next Ice Age
If the data set is extended to the entire Holocene, the data inverts, and there is no evidence that the earth is in a period of alarming warming. To the contrary, the warming appears to be nothing more than a rebound from the third/fourth coldest period during the Holocene.

The data below is from: Comparing the Kobashi and Alley Central Greenland Temperature Reconstructions
The data is the last 4,000 years temperature, Central Greenland, and the red at the end is with the HadCRUT modern thermometer data appended. The last 4,000 years the Earth has been cooling from the higher temperatures between 8,000 years, and 4,000 before the year 2,000. Also, remember that the last 15 years there has been no warming in the thermometer, or satellite temperature record.
This record shows the profound cooling which has occurred over the past 3,400 years. This cooling resulted in two of the four cold periods during the Holocene, and the modern cooling period, which began in 1,000 and ran to 100 years ago, was the longest by a great margin.
For greater clarity I have included the above graph extending back about 10,000 years. Note, the 8,200 event was the coldest in the Holocene, but the little Ice Age was not much warmer, and it was far longer in duration.
Marcott et al claim of ‘unprecedented’ warming compared to GISP ice core data
This graph simply gives a longer time line to gain a bit more perspective at the expense of detail.

The game played by the CAGW fear mongers is to truncate the data set to only include the period 1850 to present, and then scream, and rant as if this is an indicator of catastrophe. It is not, it is little more than a rewarming towards the Holocene mean.
