Canada is the second largest country in the world and is slightly larger than the USA. Canada has more fresh water than any other country and more lakes than all of the other countries combined.
Canada has a population of 36 million which is fewer than the state of California. The USA has a population of about 320 million for comparison. 81% of Canadians live in urban areas.
So, why would they restrict the size of their urban areas and restrict the availability of homes, especially the single-family detached homes that people want?
Canada is huge is sparsely populated, and nearly everyone lives in urban areas, so density is already through the roof. What can be accomplished by frustrating people by forcing them to live in housing they detest? But that is the Canadian way, and the English way, and the Australian way ... and in some states, the American way. Urban growth boundaries have become a panacea supposedly curing cancer, global climate alarmism, and all other ails.
This is a weird secular cult.
The result is that home prices in Canada are some of the highest in the world. This is a man-made disaster for no good reason whatsoever. Such are the wages of accepting socialist dogma.
