Anheuser-Busch renames Budweiser as 'America'
More after the cut.
I thought this a joke at first, but apparently someone is incapable of learning from the New Coke debacle, this is really going to happen.
Mish notes that the company doing this Anheuser-Busch InBev, is a Belgian-Brazilian Conglomerate so perhaps they never got the New Coke memo?
Budweiser, a Brand Owned by a Belgian-Brazilian Conglomerate, to Rename Itself “America” | MishTalk
I have not drunk a Bud since I can remember. I live in Portlandia, where there are more craft beer brewers than people. For a few years we had a local beer store with thousands of beers, but they moved out to Beaver Creek or somewhere.
Even so, I cannot see buying America. I am old enough to remember when generic Beer (black letters on white beer can) came out. I tried it, once. America reminds me of Beer.
Name changes are tricky. Expect fireworks. You might want to lay in a stock of your favorite beer, and corn, this might need an easy chair!
