I expect this to be just the beginning, with fast food, retail, and pretty much everyone else who employs minimum wage workers to be forced to evaluate whether they need these workers, or whether there is an outsourcing, or automation which can provide similar services for less.
Employers cannot employ people at a wage which does not allow them to make a profit. I am always surprised how quickly these things take effect, but this is a huge increase, and few low end workers can be profitable or make sense at $15 per hour.
It may be California begins it big emigration sooner than even I expected!
