Australia's government is gridlocked, incapable of forming a majority government

Gridlock in Australia

All around the world we have the Great Rebellion creating cracks in the old system.

More below.

As the blue model splinters, this should not surprise. We spent more than a century under the progressive blue model, it was imperfect but it functioned sufficiently well that we could plan our lives, and continue to improve our economic lot. That is no longer true. Today, the blue model has high centered on the graft, and corruption which used to be only a small part of its function. The difficulty this poses is that we are comfortable under the old model, and we do not understand why it is failing. As such, we cannot repair it. Actually it is not repairable, it has concluded what it was designed to do, and there is nothing left for it to accomplish. Continuing with it would be a bit like trying to make an automobile into a space ship. Better to start anew.

The change we are faced with is daunting, the politicians, bureaucrats, and myriad cronies who wait at the trough are unwilling to brook change. They have finally obtained what they most desire, they do not want change. Conversely, the people no longer want the current system which is so obviously corrupt, enriching only the sinecured elite. Hillary Clinton's email fiasco shows this in spades.

We all tend to view our world closely, but this same movement, what Joel Kotkin has dubbed, the "Great Rebellion" is being felt the world round. Britain had Brexit, America has our current Presidential election, Australia has it current inability to form majority government, Austria only days ago had its recent election rescinded in what amounts to a do-over.

Is this really populism, or is it the center, the hoi polloi reacting in horror to the graft, corruption, and power grabbing we see in nearly every democratic republic? These used to be nations known for their rule of law, for their strong limits on graft, and corruption, for their sober actions. But today the forgotten man sees none of this, he sees only the grasping elite seeking to strain whatever money, and power they can, as if a massive Baleen Whale straining krill. The unseemly Clintons strain money from the House of Saud, and Goldman Sachs, and myriad others, and claim no conflicts of interest. During the height of Hillary Clinton's investigation, her husband meets with the Attorney General, and Hillary nearly immediately indicates she wishes to retain the Attorney General in her administration. That is the smell of corruption.

"Abstain from all appearance of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:22 King James Version. Advice commonly ignored among the political elite, and this is one of the reasons for the Great Rebellion.

"Behold gridlock: splintering politics due to anti-establishment populism that is more certain about what it opposes than about what it wants. This is happening everywhere in the Western world. Voters are saying “no” to the establishment and the status quo, but the “no” votes are divided between Left and Right.

As countries like Russia, China and Iran—to say nothing of the jihadis—continue to raise their game in attacking the post-Cold War international system, more and more of the countries interested in defending it are simply adrift."

Are they?  Or, are they addressing the real problem, the internal problem of the dying, corrupt progressive blue model? This is a stubborn problem, many find the deep veins of corruption in progressivism valuable. But the hoi polloi do not. This will take time to resolve, and not every move will lead to the desired solution.

Compounding the problem is the fact that there is no well defined model which can replace the progressive model. This will need to be made on the fly, as the old is dismantled, the new will need to be crafted, tested, modified, and perfected, or at least improved.

What frightens the elites among the Boomers is not the revolution, they said they wanted a revolution, over, and over again. The alarming concern is that this is not the revolution they wanted.
