It's almost like he was never young, or something. He is one of the med plan hotshots who went along with Obamacare thinking that the government would bail them out if anything went wrong. It did, government didn't. Fuck 'em.
How hard was it to figure out that young people if faced with buying something like terrible fitting, stuffed full of BS, massively over priced health care plans, or paying rent, hitting the bar on the occasional weekend, or paying for some entertainment, they might not pick the crap sandwich health care plan? If the choice had been health care insurance which was low cost, catastrophic coverage with a high quality Health Savings Account, who knows many might have taken the plunge. Back just before Obamacare went into effect, I checked the cost of coverage for my son (age18), it was shockingly cheap. He could have bought a quality, bare bones catastrophic plan for about $25 per month. Yes, it had a $3,000 deductible, but he understood the need for coverage of costs he could not afford to handle. But I kept him on my family policy instead. Immediately after Obamacare went into effect, essentially the same plan under Obamacare cost $119 per month. That was before the ensuing years of massive cost escalations. The difference was the old plan did not have head shrinking included, or endless "free" screening tests, or multiple "free" annual exams, or any of the other twaddle stuffed into the Obamacare plans. Remember before Obamacare men did not have to help pay for women's annual medical exams, or pregnancy services, or such twaddle. After Obamacare they do, which inflated the premium significantly. Nor did young peoples insurance plans pay for Boomers who do not qualify for Medicare plans, again, they do today. These Boomers are a huge part of the problem. They are a significantly unhealthy group with ultra high medical costs. Instead of charging these Boomers for their actual medical costs, Obamacare forces insurers to charge healthy young people for these costs. Not stupid, the young are unwilling to suffer from these abusive practices. This is yet another way the Boomers are transferring money from the poorer young, to the wealthier Boomers. This is done in the tax code, this is done by government borrowing 25% of its annual expenditures, this is done in myriad ways. But not here, the Millennials are beginning to revolt. What should drive a stake of fear through the hearts of spendthrift Boomers, is the fact that Millennials are much more content to live a more frugal lifestyle. If this continues, there simply will not be enough money to scrape out of the Millennials pockets to pay for the Boomers money demands. Too bad. I am rooting for the Millennials in this generational war. The Boomers need their comeuppance, good and hard.
