Liquid restrictions at airports 'irrelevant 10 years ago - and irrelevant now'
In the US, this is just about building budget, and headcount. These are the things which create a powerful agency. Then the goal is to not embarrass or piss off the politicians, and upper level bureaucrats. Keep your head down is the mantra.

So, the liquids BS, and the shoes off BS are all just theater to make you feel like they are securing the airport, and your flight. They couldn't secure the back flap on a union suit.

Yes, but they don't care. You are not the customer. The politicians, and the upper level bureaucrats are the customer. You are the annoying prats who the TSA has to deal with. The entire organ is inverted. You should be the customer, and you should be treated well, and the airport, and flight should be secure, but none of this is true. The only cure is elimination of Homeland Security, and TSA. A llama could provide security on this level.
There has been much written about security, but the way we do it is not effective. It is time for a complete overhaul.
