Governor of Oregon, Kate Brown's policies are Racist, and Classist regarding the minimum wage

It's official: Kate Brown signs minimum wage bill for $14.75 in Portland

"Gov. Kate Brown signed historic increases to the minimum wage into law Wednesday, claiming a major win for Democrats and promising to uplift the working poor.

Speaking to reporters in her ceremonial office at the Capitol, Brown said the bill is a well-crafted compromise between labor groups and businesses that demonstrates Oregon's wise culture of governing."

But why would we stop our "wise culture of governing" here? The next thing Oregon should do is take a look at our financing of political campaigns. Today they are too often financed by the wealthy, with the average person only donating a small amount on occasion to candidates. In order to ensure that candidates are not spending so much time trolling for money, we need a minimum campaign finance donation law. 

Accordingly, Maddog proposes a new law: political candidates cannot accept donations of less than $1000 (such donations would trigger a 100% tax). This will allow the candidates to spend less time trolling for money, and more time campaigning! 

The politicians would infarct. This would cut off the vast majority of their campaign financing. This would mean the only candidates who could obtain funding would be the ones beholden to the wealthy. 

The minimum wage law does the same, it simply eliminates from the wage pool people who cannot obviously provide a return to the employer of something more than the minimum wage. Unsurprisingly, this cohort of people is mostly comprised of racial minorities, and the lower class. Kate Brown knows this, and she knows the outcome of enacting the minimum wage. She is not a stupid person. She does not care.

Kate Brown has enacted a racist, and a classist law designed to further erode the ability of racial minorities, and the lower class to obtain gainful employment. Oregon has become a cesspool of wealthy patrician progressives like Kate Brown constantly telling the poor, the blacks, the hispanics, and other minorities that they are not wanted, or at least not wanted as workers. 

This is telling of both Kate Brown's, and voters sympathies, regarding race, and class. Welcome to Oregon.
