Reformation of the House of Saud: While I agree, I doubt the reforms will succeed

Fight for Saudi reform is fight for global security

"Countries don't usually re-invent themselves; unlike a commercial company, a country can't easily discard its history and traditions, nor can it brush aside its various interest groups."

Kim Joo Hyuk: Gangnam Style Tragedy

South Korean actor Kim Joo Hyuk killed in traffic accident in Gangnam

Daughter loves watching Korean TV. Don't ask, I don't get it but what the hey.

It is tragic to die by the last great predator of humans, the auto, immediately before the self-drive car eliminates this problem.

On a lighter note:

Rise of the robot brickie: Automation could wipe out 600,000 construction jobs by 2040

Journalists are idiots. This is not a story about the loss of jobs. That is an unproven assumption. This is a story about lower costs construction methods. It is more likely that more people will be able to afford to build and this will actually lead to more jobs not fewer.
Don't count on a  journalist to get the story correct.

Time to get the feel of Halloween with one of my favorite Big Bandmen Cab Calloway

Relax, it drops into an acid trip horror shortly, and it is rotoscope goodness with Cab singing his classic Minnie the Moocher.
Here is the song jazzed up for the 80s in the Blues Brothers, with Cab singing the lead! Dude doesn't miss a beat. Love ya Cab!
Here he is in 1958.
A few other old time videos to get you in the mood.

Vancouver Tops List of Most Unaffordable Cities in North America - Small Dead Animals

How else can you interpret this chart?
Picture
A median multiple of 5.1 or higher (median house price divided by median household income) describes severely unaffordable home prices. I have no idea how to quantify a median multiple of 17.3 particularly in a nation with as much land and as few people as Canada. Canada and Australia are the lowest density nations in the first world. Both of them suffer from idiotic land use regulations which force the people in cities to live in undesirable high density.

The Canadian Boomers were able to buy real property decades ago before it became unaffordable and did so. Their children cannot. The Boomer land owners enjoy huge paper wealth driven by land use regulations which force their children out of the housing market all so they can be wealthy. Such is Canadian morality.
