A Matter of Trust
Pretty funny, Ford, behind the eight ball due to unnecessary delays hopes that claiming the delays are due to safety concerns will calm investors jitters. It will probably work right up until Ford's competitors start selling functioning self-drive autos after that, investors will move to invest in competence and success. The second part of the article is much more essential and discloses precisely what the progressive really, really want. "Meanwhile, TU-Automotive has issued a report titled “Why Megacities Need to Define the Vehicle of the Future.” The report claims that China’s “authoritarian rule” is better at innovation than America’s system of researchers dispersed across many companies in several different industries. There is so much wrong with this idea that it is hard to know where to begin. We know where authoritarian central planning gets us: back into the past, because the planners can’t really conceive of the future so they plan for an idyllic nostalgia similar to what they imagine the past was like. Historically, how much innovation has come from centrally planned economies such as Russia and China, vs. how much from distributed economies such as the United States and Japan? Second, “megacities” are not single entities that can plan anything. In most cases, they are numerous cities and other local governments, each of which are made up of politicians and bureaucrats. This means that, not only will they not be innovative, they will take forever and a day to make any decisions. The report uses meaningless platitudes such as “interoperable” and “planning streets for people,” explicitly stating that this means light rail (an obsolete technology typical of central planners), not cars. Since streets move far more people in cars than light rail, how can planning light rail be planning for people? This report should be ignored by anyone who supports increased and safer mobility." Progressives are naive nostalgia driven fools. They do not want progress forward; they want progress backward. The current crop of American progressives pine for the good old days of the Victorian era where women were limited, hand minders and chaperones, and rail was the dynamic new transportation mode of the present and future. Back here in the present, rail is an economical way to move freight, but an incredibly expensive way to move people. Because people with even a whiff of common sense are unwilling to waste money on rail, light rail, streetcars, trams and other transit nonsense, progressives need to control local politics so they can implement their idiotic, spendthrift ideas. We do not need more planning; we need less. Organic development works whether in 6th century Italy, 16th century Britain, or 21st century America. People in each of these eras had different needs and levels of wealth which resulted in different home design and construction. The progressive planners, however, know what is best for not only themselves but you and everyone else as well. Sorry, no! Here in Portlandia, we've spent more than $5 billion on transit which moves about 3.2 to 3.5% of the total daily trips. During rush hour (1.5 hours one way in the morning and again at night) transit moves 7.5% of the commuters. The total daily trips figure is about on par with the number of trips taken by skateboards in a single day and far below bikers or walkers. Transit in the transit mecca of Portlandia moves an insignificant number of people each day but cost a massive +$5 billion in construction costs and massive amounts more to operate and maintain. Luckily the fare box returns about 20% of the operating costs and zero for maintenance and zero for the 35-year capital reconstruction cost. These capital reconstruction costs usually are equal to the initial construction costs, so for Portland, after 35 years we will need to find an additional $5 billion to recapitalize our rail infrastructure. Money which will not be available. As the Antiplanner notes, China is not innovative; no authoritarian countries are creative, it is contrary to their DNA. America is innovative; we are the most innovative large nation in the world and one of the most innovative countries to ever exist. We need to innovate away from authoritarianism and the idea that planning and organizing people can work, it cannot. Dostadning - Maggie's Farm
"The word refers to a human tendency, in their 50s and 60s, to begin to unload possessions and to streamline life. Furniture, clothing, tools, sports equipment, books, cookware and serving stuff, pictures and artwork, various collections, spare houses, time shares, and so on. Things in closets, things in the attic, things in the basement. At some point, people realize they will not live long enough to use or wear out the stuff they have. Awareness of morbidity and mortality." In America, he who dies with the most toys wins! Heaven forfend we might sell something and lose status. In Stunning Reversal, Michael Cohen's Attorney Backpedals On Trump-Russia Claims
It is not clear, but Cohen is a fool to trust Davis. It seems the point of this and so many media stories is to create Fake News to feed the progressive red meat machine. As the election comes closer, expect this process of hyping Democratic Party hopes then dashing them to affect Dem turnout negatively. Davis also walked back another story that Trump had advance knowledge of Russian hacking of the Democrat emails. The man is either a liar, an incompetent, or he is colluding with the Democratic Party's PR machine, er, the media to inundate the countryside with Fake News. Lanny is doing more damage to the Democratic Party goals than Trump. North Korea newspaper blasts 'double-dealing' U.S. after Pompeo's...
The learning curve will be difficult for Kim, he and his predecessors got their way with little effort. Trump has little interest in letting Kim get his way, not until the nuclear issue is cleared up and off the table and the Korean War is finally put to bed, after that, Trump will deal. Obama was such a pathetic wimp. He would talk tough but had no spine to withstand Kim's games. So, Obama would draw a red line, Kim would wait a while then cross the line. Obama would redraw the line - lather, rinse, repeat. Kim is used to winning against a pathetic spineless opponent. It will be difficult and take time for Trump to force him to realize he cannot win any longer. Foreign relations is kindergarten politics. This is why Trump's Big Stick Diplomacy is so effective. It looks like Kim needs a little tuning up, and Trump is just the mechanic to do it. 96 Percent of Google Search Results for 'Trump' News Are from Liberal Media Outlets
They will not allow search results to show any progressive results. They are trying to game the system, believing that Americans are too stupid to see through their deceit. This fall is likely the final showdown. Middle America continues to support Trump, and progressives running the media outlets are running scared. They could win this round, but that seems increasingly unlikely. The progressives have behaved badly for more than two years, and this is the first federal general election since Trump inauguration. There is a significant amount of pent-up frustration on the part of middle America that the progressive media mavens continue to harass the administration but do not investigate or attack the obvious criminals in the Democratic Party and among progressives. I expect that the polling now and up to the fall election will prove to be little more than Democratic Party wishful thinking just as it was when Hillary was soundly spanked. The Democratic Party stands at the brink. If they continue down the path they have chosen, they will become a rump party for the next 4+ federal general election cycles. I doubt they can snap out of their Trump Derangement Syndrome and so expect Trump to win elections beginning in 2018 and continuing through the 2020 Presidential election, and the following midterm election. There is a very good chance that Republicans will win at least three election cycles after that. The progressives have reason to be terrified, but by censoring their opponents they all but guarantee their movements long-term failure. Inside the Democrats' Café California
To be more accurate, Trump's supporters what the media, the Democrats, and the NeverTrumpers to take a long walk down a short pier. They are tired of the foolish games, and the damage Mueller and his ilk are doing to America. None of this has or will slow Trump's run to change the current state of American politics, world politics, economics, and our foreign relations. Trump's approval is remarkably stable! Unsurprisingly. Don't forget the pollsters are incompetent at polling Trump supporters. Whatever the numbers are supporting Trump you can bet they will be far higher when the real polling happens this fall. The Democratic Party is wallowing in a mental illness which will destroy them. They so hate Trump and are willing to do or believe anything which supports their hatred; they have set themselves up for defeat after defeat as their belief bubbles are popped one after the other. |
