How news organizations, including this one, unintentionally misinformed the public on guns | Commentary | Dallas News

Wife, and I both killed our commutes, although wife still air commutes often, the clients demand it6/29/2017 Tell Me Again Why We Commute?
"The issue of telecommuting I find cute, removed, and academic. The reason why is because I work from home and I largely view commuting to be for the sheep and the shepherds that employ them. But as I approach my now 9th year since my last appearance in rush hour traffic, I'm so far removed from it that I see a commute much like an abused wife sees her ex-husband for the irrational, damaging, and ultimately pointless waste that he is. The only question I have is Why do you guys commute? You do know the technology to move all office buildings to home offices has been around since about 1998? And that in those two decades we have forced millions of people to spend billions of hours in traffic? And that commutes are not improving, consuming 52 minutes on average each day?" The reasons for not commuting seem endless, the reasons for commuting few. One problem is extraverts hate working from home, while introverts excel at it and there are many more extraverts then introverts. I wouldn't commute again. "'After she shot Ruiz, Perez called 911. When police arrived, they attempted to save Ruiz but he died at the scene. Perez told police Ruiz had shown her a different book which a bullet did not penetrate; she acknowledged to police that she shot Ruiz from one foot away using a .50 caliber Desert Eagle firearm." I'm not expert, but I could swear a .50 caliber bullet would beat book." Just guessing, was the book, The Darwin Awards? Because, winner! Thursday morning links - Maggie's Farm
From this article: Chores Lead to Happy Children. So Why Do So Few Parents Require Them? The kids and I have analyzed this issue on a number of times. Wife's strategy is to ask kid1 to do something, mow the lawn, water the plants, feed the dog, etc. Parents don't require chores because doing so requires the parent monitor the child, and it is easier and quicker to just do the job correctly the first time themselves, then it is to require the child do the chore, monitor the child, instruct the child on how to do the job, make sure they do the job correctly, and correct them and show them when they do not, and require they redo the job as necessary. Parents are lazy. Canada’s Supreme Court Tries to Take Over the Internet - Maggie's Farm The likely outcome reminded me of the time my little 5 year old brer was teasing me, I have a long fuse, but it finally burned down to the cracker, so I hung him in the closet, by his underwear, on the coat hook, closed the closet door, and left with him squealing, and kicking inside. He survived, and even had offspring, so no harm, no foul. I hope. Trudeau is about exactly like my kid brother, cute, precocious, likable, but trivial, like all 5 year old kids, and Prime Minsters of Canada. This is pretty amusing. All I can say to Canada is Molon Labe (μολὼν λαβέ molṑn labé). The hegemon like the oldest brer is often benevolent, particularly to the youngest brer. But don't press your luck, smack down is always a bitch, as little brer found as he was hoisted on his own Underoos. Justin, pull my finger . . . CNN’s Month-Long Nightmare - Maggie's Farm
Not just Zucker, but CNN itself looks on very shaky ground. Perhaps it can clamp on a tourniquet, and keep from bleeding out, but I am not so sure today. The benefit is the organization is brainless, so no worries about cutting off the oxygen supply to the brain, go ahead and tourniquet the neck. This is a terrible story, and not only are there other outlets to get ones news from, the competition is cutthroat. It can't be helpful to be sawing away on your own throat while everyone is trying to get a blade in to help you along. Progressive Business Owner on Living Wage Law: ‘The arithmetic doesn’t work’
Whoopsie, left wing crazies! "What’s fascinating about this video, however, is the fact these business owners are not the stereotype of the right-wing crazies who ignorantly reject the idea of a living wage. Instead, they proudly declare themselves to be left-leaning progressives who have looked at the facts and realized that the math doesn’t add up. For example, Jane Elias, the owner of a local art store notes: “I’m a bleeding heart liberal and I’m a big Bernie Sanders supporter, but this whole, flat-out, $15, one-size-fits-all is just wrong.” More below. |
