"Welcome To The Next Awakening" - Author Of Steve Bannon's Worldview Explains The Path Ahead
I have no idea if the 4 cycles holds any validity, but we are in a period of incredible, really total, change right now, with change affecting economics, politics, family, work, society, culture, relationships, and pretty much everything else. If this is part of the 4 cycles, it is a super cycle because these changes seem to be affecting more institutions, and relationships than ever in the past. Anyway, this is an interesting take on where we are, and I agree that we are in for full bore change through about 2030. Interesting how the author fails to realize that war may come to Europe, not just one of the places he mentions. Europe has allowed in a large host of people who want nothing so much as they want the destruction of the Western European model. If they ever figure out how, they could touch off an internal European war. They appear to be trying to do just that right now. I think I need to buy the book! If you've read it let me know your thoughts in the comments, or by email. The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy - What the Cycles of History Tell Us About America's Next Rendezvous with Destiny by William Strauss, Neil Howe Minimum Wage Massacre: Wendy's Unleashes 1,000 Robots To Counter Higher Labor Costs Day 1, 1,000 jobs lost, and so it goes . . . Soon, automation will be more common than not, and the minimum wage worker will be minimized to irrelevance. If the goal was to eliminate minimum wage workers, this is becoming an unfettered success, if the goal was go allow people a starting job where they can learn employment skills, and work up the wage ladder, this is an unfettered failure. This will likely find a home in inner cities, and areas with high crime quickly, since it will put a premium on non-cash payment methods. As these stores go cashless, they become less interesting to criminals, profits will rise, labor will shrink, quality will rise, complaints will shrink. Lather, rinse, repeat. Dem senator: Let’s confirm Neil Gorsuch and Merrick Garland
This should be a laugh line, but it is an indicator of just how pathetically out of touch the Democratic Party legislators are today. Saudi Arabia Overestimating Value of its Oil Company
Expect the House of Saud to be nonplussed at the value the market places on its crown jewell. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” Upton Sinclair Thoughts on the Oscars and Politics
"3. Hearing actors who I know to be dumb as a post agree with me using facile and hysterical reasoning is only likely to make me question whether I really feel good about agreeing with this dolt. When Rosie O'Donnell agrees with me, its time to rethink that issue. I feel like I was stampeded into supporting the Iraq war in part due to the incredible lameness of a lot of the anti-war "arguments". That was a mistake on my part, and I own up to it, but I still feel tempted to do the opposite of whatever Sean Penn says even when I agree." I actually step off the issue if wackadoos like Rosie, or Sean parrot even a similar line. So, if these fools say, "I am against a war with Iraq" and I also hold that position, I will almost always simply say I am evaluating my position, but if they ask, I will outline my pro tempore position as X, and lay out my full argument. Frankly, this is probably always a more honest position since all of my opinions are subject to further renovation in light of new facts or better analysis. Going full single payer would likely accelerate the California implosion. It's not about authentic it's about combining flavors in different ways, or new ways which are interesting, and tasty. Since the 1970s I have evaluated the greatness of a chef by looking at his ability to innovate resulting in something wonderfully tasty, but by no means authentic. George Will: America's pension crisis is really coming I have little more to say about this issue. I've been writing about it for a very long time. Please read this article. Here is the real take away quote: "Last September, in the seventh year of the recovery from the Great Recession, the vice chair of the agency in charge of Oregon's government workers' pension system wept when speaking about the state's unfunded pension promises passing $22 billion." This will blow up, and when it does it won't just be state and private pension officials crying, but pensioners, their children, and the politicians who stood by and watched this train wreck happen, year after year, without raising a finger. If you are a pensioner, you might want to start lobbying aggressively for serious change, now. Like Godzilla this will grow to become an unstoppable, un-killable yet existential issue. |
