Lamborghini Huracan Performante: faster, louder and angrier
I suspect the self drive car will make it difficult for manufactures to make, and sell human drive cars, I do not believe the self drive car will end them. I suspect that just as the advent of the automobile changed societies, the self drive car will also, and likely more dramatically, change societies. One change would seem to be the creation of closed circuit tracks of various lengths, and configurations to allow people to drive human drive cars in a controlled environment. I have no idea what these might look like, but the fact that motorsports are so incredibly popular would seem to demand that the ability for people to continue these races would be present. Small tracks will continue, but I also expect large more elaborate tracks like the Nürburgring a 150,000-capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, could become common near cities, and population centers. These could allow everything from racing, to parading, to Sunday leisure drives, depending upon the desires of the users. Large complexes of hangers/garages surrounding the complex like hangers at an airport would allow relatively secure parking for all kinds of autos, and make Saturday/Sunday "auto" shows at these facilities a festive party like destination. I expect the high performance autos in the article to make the jump and continue to be manufactured. Perhaps so will some luxury saloons. Who knows, I could be dead wrong about all of this, but I suspect that all of the people who profess to love driving today, hate driving in rush hour Portland traffic, but would love to drive the Nurburgring. Perhaps the self drive car will be the impetus to achieve this goal.

Car Princess Diana died in was 'death trap' that had been written off and rebuilt, according to new report
Sadly, the trap was sprung while the Princess rode. I doubt this pumpkin-cum-totaled, and rebuild auto would have met the IIHS-HLDI Crash Testing & Highway Safety standards. But why the interest in this water long under the bridge? Elon Musk Takes a Stand Against Trump's Latest Plan
As Upton Sinclair said, "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!" More below. Dilbert 1, Scientists 0.
Read the whole thing while I slay a tangent dragon. This is the manifestation of sciency through the mouths of putative "scientist" who apparently have never done science. Scott Adam's Dilbert character nails the problem with the sciency but not scientific Climate Alarmist P(piled)h(higher &) D(deeper) set. They have no arguments, they are simply manipulating data in an attempt to charge up society to act in the way they wish. This is never science, this is lobbying, and lobbying of an infernal sort. More below. Trump Infrastructure Plan
"Greater reliance on user fees, federal loans rather than grants, and corporatization are three keys to the Trump administration’s infrastructure initiative released as a part of its 2018 budget. The plan will “seek long-term reforms on how infrastructure projects are regulated, funded, delivered, and maintained,” says the six-page document. More federal funding “is not the solution,” says the document; instead, it is to “fix underlying incentives, procedures, and policies.'" More below. They would rather carp from the peanut gallery. But they are the leaders, and must either lead or fail. Obama has shown what happens when you fail, you lose 1,000 elected seats over 8 years. But the stupid party would never do something like that would it? Stupid Party®! I would suggest action, make some concessions, see if you can extract some concessions, but act. Mika is the exception which proves the rule, that apple fell far from the tree! "'He was the most brilliant person that I have ever known...you can be truly proud of him,' said 92-year-old Carter as Mika and her co-host and fiancé Joe Scarborough listened." It is difficult to find a journalist whom one can admire for his brilliance, but Mika, and Joe do much to lower the curve, inadvertently helping out their fellow journalists by improving their comparative scores. This stuff writes itself! Wolfman, is a busker, who uses a Hula Hoop, and a guitar in his act. Britt, and pals are buskers as well who apparently dance, but not well enough that at the end of the dance they can get tips. After ending a dance routine, Britt and pals failed to get any tips, so they began to harass, and intimidate an older man wearing a yarmulke. Wolfman tried to calm the situation, but the dancing fools would have none of it, and they chased him around the station, tossed his guitar down some stairs, gave him a good old fashioned beat down . . . with is own hula hoop. Cops arrived, and arrested Britt, but the other two seem to have gotten away. "Wolfman required 10 staples and two stitches to close the wounds sustained in the melee, but says he would do it again to help a fellow New Yorker in need." Even a rookie cop should be able to close this pretty quickly, these kind of perpetrators are not particularly bright. The injuries are sufficient that these cretins should be scooped up, and given a bit of time out at Rikers Island Spa. I might be wrong about the spa part of that, just saying. |
