Trump: Castro left a legacy of 'unimaginable suffering'

"'Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades. Fidel Castro's legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights," Trump said in a statement.
"While Cuba remains a totalitarian island, it is my hope that today marks a move away from the horrors endured for too long, and toward a future in which the wonderful Cuban people finally live in the freedom they so richly deserve," he added.

Trump promised that his administration "will do all it can to ensure the Cuban people can finally begin their journey toward prosperity and liberty.'"

Cuba has been a country in search of a Sugar Daddy since its inception. It lucked out with the Soviet Union, and then lucked out again with Venezuela, but once Venezuela fell into its own socialist malaise, Cuba was again forced to search for a new Sugar Daddy. None to be found it reluctantly agreed to open relations with the US. It will be up to Trump to drive Cuba into the arms of the free markets, republican governance, expansive individual liberty, and reformed religion. Obama was too incompetent to understand this is the desired outcome, Trump appears ready.
