So a few important points on that new NYT "Hurricane Crossfire" piece. A story that, BTW, all of us following this knew had to be coming. This is DOJ/FBI leakers' attempt to get in front of the facts Nunes is forcing out, to make it not sound so bad. Don't buy it. It's bad. 2. Biggest takeaway: Govt "sources" admit that, indeed, the Obama DOJ and FBI spied on the Trump campaign. Spied. (Tho NYT kindly calls spy an "informant.") NYT slips in confirmation far down in story, and makes it out like it isn't a big deal. It is a very big deal." More below. I already commented on this, but it is big, much bigger than Watergate. This is serious corruption running to the highest levels of the Obama administration. It is not possible to believe that Obama would have allowed this to happen without his knowledge. The Democratic Obama FBI/DOJ installing a spy into the Trump campaign is the most shocking thing I've heard in years. Yeah, Bill and Hillary's corruption was worst by order of magnitude or more, but who didn't expect them to be corrupt? The FBI/DOJ trying to get tangential "wiretaps" on the Trump campaign was shocking but having a spy in the campaign is so much worse. Wiretaps only allow you to listen to telephonic and electronic communication; the spy gets to see and hear it all.
For the first time in my life, I believe we will have to burn down much of the current federal bureaucracy to eliminate this corruption. I suggest that we need to reduce the federal bureaucracy by at least 50%. "The bureau already has some explaining to do. Thanks to the Washington Post’s unnamed law-enforcement leakers, we know Mr. Nunes’s request deals with a “top secret intelligence source” of the FBI and CIA, who is a U.S. citizen and who was involved in the Russia collusion probe. When government agencies refer to sources, they mean people who appear to be average citizens but use their profession or contacts to spy for the agency. Ergo, we might take this to mean that the FBI secretly had a person on the payroll who used his or her non-FBI credentials to interact in some capacity with the Trump campaign. This would amount to spying, and it is hugely disconcerting. It would also be a major escalation from the electronic surveillance we already knew about, which was bad enough. Obama political appointees rampantly “unmasked” Trump campaign officials to monitor their conversations, while the FBI played dirty with its surveillance warrant against Carter Page, failing to tell the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that its supporting information came from the Hillary Clinton campaign. Now we find it may have also been rolling out human intelligence, John Le Carré style, to infiltrate the Trump campaign." About That FBI ‘Source’ We are close to the OIG dropping his report. My guess is it will contain much more information on at least some of these issues, and it will contain prosecution referrals for some individuals including individuals no longer working for the FBI and possibly the DOJ. I predict that when the Mueller investigation comes up empty, and the OIG and subsequent investigations begin to pile up serious charges against Obama's henchmen the progressive left will lose its collective mind. The mass movement hive mind can become dangerously volatile if its worldview is throttled, and arrests and convictions, particularly among Obama Cabinet officials and other high officials will crush that worldview. The corruption in the Obama administration is breathtaking and highly intertwined. My second prediction for the day is that this will quickly become a bloodbath involving many perhaps dozens of high-level Obama administration officials from multiple agencies. These investigations will take quite a while to pursue and even longer to try. My trifecta prediction is that this scandal will force the complete reformation of the federal government including a significant downsizing of the bureaucracy, term (time in office) limits on bureaucrats above a specified GS level, and the atomization of federal agencies from Washington to distant parts of the nation. The idea being that distance will limit bureaucratic corruption. What happened here is tantamount initially to an attempted denial of the election win to candidate Trump and secondly an attempted soft coup by the Deep State. While both failed, as these shocking facts come out, Americans outside of the progressive left will be shocked and incensed. They will want blood. They will get change and reformation to the federal bureaucracy. Keep a record of my looney predictions. You will want them if I am wrong. If I am, I will need to have my ego deflated, and I expect you to do just that.
