My story about Obamacare is simple, we had a preObamacare policy but because the premium changed a bit we were to lose the policy, yes, that is all it took a premium change. That policy cost me less than $300 per month for the kids, and I (wife was on an employer policy). So, for less than $3,500 per year we had coverage with a $3,000 individual, and $5,000 family deductible, $5,000 out-of-pocket payment limit. Then I shopped for Obamacare. The cost was a bit less than $6,000 per year, with a $5,000 individual deductible, and $12,000 family/out of pocket payment limit. But we got lucky, and Obama decided to stay the implementation of Obamacare for people like me. 

The next year the stay ended, so, again I had to shop. This time the cost had increased to $10,500 per year, with roughly the same limits, and deductibles. 

My first policy had a payment limit of $5,000, the next two had deductibles, and payment limits far exceeding the first policy payment limits, and the first Obamacare policy had the individual equal to the preObamacare policy payment limits.

In essence, I was always better with the preObamacare policy, the Obamacare policies always left me with the potential for more out of pocket costs.

The scaremongering is all the progressives have on these issues. Even if we were to go back to the preObamacare policies I would be better off.

Note: Due to the clamor, wife's employer added family coverage to its policy, I suspect the owners were shocked by the cost of Obamacare as well.  ​
