And, so, established the Interstate Commerce Clause which eliminates the states ability to tariff goods from other states. But if tariffs are so good, why should be not allow states to tariff goods from another state. That way we could capture all that "growth" within our own state, and preserve it for our posterity, not the posterity some other far flung state. 

The problem is, of course, that we would have to forego all of that good cost lowering specialization of labor to do this, and that would make products lower in quality, and higher in price. But then that is the entire desire of the mercantilist. They want their low quality, high cost manufacturing plants to be able to compete, and the only way to do this is to force all other manufacturers to suffer from serious inefficiencies like those of these highly inefficient, high cost, low quality facilities.

Or, we can allow full imports without tariffs, and let American businesses compete in areas where we are highly competitive, and not compete in areas where we are not competitive. Interestingly, we are competitive in areas where there is high value, and not competitive in areas where there is low value.

Do we really want our scarce labor making low value shoes, and clothing, or would we rather have them making aircraft engines, software, computers, and technological gadgets? 

If you really want them making shoes, you need to explain to all Americans why you are deflating the US economy, the US GDP in order to make shoes, something even the Chinese can make, and cheaply. Explain why you are making us all poorer. Please, you have the floor . . . the comments are open.
