If you are unhappy with your appearance, a quick look to Botox will allow you to create a fantasy about how you will look after Botox. Let this stew for a few months, and once you have Botox, it will never live up to your expectations. You may accept it, but . . . And why would you undergo an invasive treatment with serious potential health consequences for vanity? You go girl!
Happiness is the wrong metric. Why use a temporal metric when what you want is something more appropriately termed joy, or contentment, and not temporal happiness? Happiness is the temporary elimination, or fogging of the daily vicissitudes of life. Go to a movie, during the movie you become enthralled with the plot, the characters, and you leave happy. But shortly you remember the bills at home needing payment, or when you get to your car you are reminded of the repairs needed, or your child complains about something, and happiness dies. Seek contentment, seek it through acceptance of who you are, what you are, where you are, and you will be far along the road to contentment. This does not mean you cannot have betterment goals, but you must accept your status today, and relish the work necessary to attain the betterment goal. Daughter has been teaching me to whinge ever since attaining the ripe old age of 16. Now the world is a weight to her, difficulties batter her from all sides. Just this morning she rolled out of bed, and padded off to micturate. Then, quelle horreur, found the toilet enclogged. Daughter immediately found me and proceeded to whinge long and hard about this quelle horreur. I was non-nonplussed, this is too much work for me, I am too content with my life, my family, myself (ok, maybe just accepting of myself) to blow a kidney on worrying, kevtching, and whinging about a clogged toilet which is quickly and easily remedied. If an unclogged toilet cannot make daughter happy, neither will Botox make the sad sack happy.
