Putin Calls For A New System Guided By UN Charter... But Is It Possible?
After WWII, American created the entire international system we know today, the UN, the Bretton Woods financial institutions, and the regional institutions. This was created in the shadow of the Cold War, and once the Cold War ended these institutions quickly began failing. As I have argued for three decades, we needed to begin replacing these institutions immediately after the fall of the Soviet Union. If we had, we might have been able to avoid the myriad problems we have faced since the Middle Eastern crises, the South China Sea crisis, China, Ukraine, Georgia, Russian belligerence, and more. But we did not. Now would be a good time to address these problems and build the international infrastructure necessary to move the world forward through the 21st century and beyond. Such international institutions need to be based on the Anglospheric worldview in conjunction with the Scandinavian worldview. We can allow in a few others, but they must be of limited voting stature; this would include the German-speaking peoples. A seat at the table would require the nation to have fully implemented and observe the basic fundamentals we know lead to human thriving: free markets, individual liberty, personal responsibility, constitutional republican governance, reformed religions, the right to property, self-defense, free association, and speech. The US Constitution is the second greatest modern document only eclipsed by the Declaration of Independence. It would make a good basis for the new international systems constitution. The USA should also distribute the Declaration of Independence and make it understood it will stand with any who find themselves oppressed. We will also need to shrink our federal government to perhaps 6-10% of GDP or face the consequences of our Declaration of Independence being used against us. The vast and unConstitutional welfare state should be state-run if the people of a state want those institutions, but there is no valid Constitutional provision that permits the federal government to usurp these powers from the people or the states.
