Early Returns on Trump's Appointments Are Good
The more I see of Trumps picks, the more I suspect that we are in for a Reagan like Presidency with a dealmaker/negotiator at the top who is keenly capable of choosing people to advise hime, and to whom to delegate duties. This is the key area that Obama failed at. Instead of finding excellent people, Obama found ideologues who really did not understand how things work. Obama essentially fed his ego, and failed his supporters by hiring a class of wizened mandarines who were incapable of executing. The result was an ability to follow the Bush lead on things like the second half of the stimulus, and then making another run or two at the same stimulus idea (Cash for Clunkers), but no truly new ideas. Even Obamacare was really just Hillarycare rehashed, recycled, dusted off, with a few of the more massive holes patched then trotted out without time for anyone to even read the piece of shite. Of course the supermajority Democrats voted for this retreaded garbage. I never thought I would say this, but it is shaping up that Trump might be a good President, and possibly even better. He really must come around on trade, and tariffs, but even if he does not, and he is only stymied in these areas, he is the best policy Presidential candidate the Republicans have run in decades. Main points - he is not an international adventurer. Hillary was, and would have been a drumbeat to war President. Obama was a stumbling, bumbling back into war President. Trump will be much better than either unless he completely turns a 180. Reducing regulations - Obama was a disaster, increasing regulations on businesses, and individuals, tethering the economy reducing it to an anemic toothless old lion. Hillary wanted more of the same. Trump is already proudly pointing out the regulations he wants to eliminate, and planning how to do so both with, and without the assistance of Congress, and the agencies. (The civil servants will try to thwart agency changes.) I expect Trump will be an active vibrant driving force for reducing regulations. This will, if accomplished, reinvigorate the economy. Increasing individual liberty - Trump is already working to find ways to expand concealed carry to nation wide status like drivers licenses. This makes sense. I expect the same kind of changes will happen to medical insurance policies. Watch this space, this is only the start. Good appointments - He is hitting this out of the park. Far better than I thought. I am solidly optimistic as of today.
