UK Police Threaten to 'Act Upon' Social Media Posts Referencing Alfie Evans or the Hospital Apparently, the Met has solved Londonistan's knife crime epidemic. Why else would the Met be spending the time to censor speech on the Internet about Alfie and the NHS? More below. Getting sick in Britain is dicey business anymore. If the NHS decides you have a disease that is too costly for them to treat, you will likely be forced to give up your passport so you will be sure to die with nothing more than palliative care in Britain. The fascists cannot have you leaving the country for higher quality care than the NHS provides. Doing something like that could tarnish the reputation of the NHS. What makes this all so odd is that the NHS provides the poorest quality medical care in the industrialized West. Britain's Concord 2 data is abysmal! Cancer survival rates in UK are a 'shameful' decade behind Europe As the charts for Lung, Breast, Colon, and Stomach cancers in the article shows even comparing today's Concord 2 data with other European countries data a decade old, and the NHS still loses. How abysmal is that? Worse yet, the US and some of the Asian countries do better on average than do the European nations. In essence, the comparisons in the article are between Britain and second-tier medical systems, not the first-tier. Comparisons to the US or Japan would be even more painful. On the other hand, the people in Britain believe their medical system to be top tier. This is the Dunning-Kruger effect in its most damaging form. The video below shows the British zombie-like adherence to the idea that the NHS is perfect. Yaron is correct; the NHS is one of the worst medical systems in the industrialized world. Cancer survival rates are horrible; cardiac care is equally bad. The British consistently believe their NHS is brilliant medical care. They also constantly raise the issue of the poor receiving medical care and how without the NHS, or turning to an American system, the health of the poor would decline. Socialized medicine lowers the outcomes for 5-year cancer survival rates. 40P Comparison of clinical characteristics and survival of lung cancer patients in a Canadian province and in the United States according to insurance status "Conclusions: Among lung cancer pts, the Canadian outcomes resembled the US Medicaid group for survival outcomes. In the US population, Medicaid and uninsured pts experienced worse survival." Canada which has a much better health care delivery system than the NHS is no better than the US Medicaid system at least concerning lung cancer. Finally, here in Oregon, we did a large-scale study to determine whether Medicaid "insurance" was better than being uninsured. The finding was a surprising but emphatic, no! The Oregon Experiment — Effects of Medicaid on Clinical Outcomes | NEJM "CONCLUSIONS This randomized, controlled study showed that Medicaid coverage generated no significant improvements in measured physical health outcomes in the first 2 years, but it did increase use of health care services, raise rates of diabetes detection and management, lower rates of depression, and reduce financial strain." Medicaid benefits by reducing depression and the emotional consequences of financial strain. On the other hand, we know that actual private health insurance has positive outcomes. So, exactly why do we continue to force the poor into the Medicaid system when we could provide them with a private insurance product? The government could bulk buy insurance products with the available money for all of the Medicaid recipients, but instead, it keeps the poor on lower quality, poor outcome Medicaid. In the end, the British NHS is worse than US Medicaid, and probably worse off than the US uninsured although I have not been able to find such study. The Brits need a come to Jesus moment where they realize they are being fleeced by the fascist's forces of big government and low quality and outcomes. The US also needs to realize that in our poverty medical program, Medicaid we also are being fleeced by the same fascist forces for big government and low quality and outcomes. These forces constantly allege that they do this for the poor or the children. Do what? Provide terrible medical care and services? Time for change.
