Hard to prove eating organic food lowers cancer risk
This is nothing but magical thinking and virtue signaling. Media industry turning to blockchain tech and AI
Think of it as Amazon for contracts. It will allow contracting to eliminate the middlemen who do little but soak up resources and drain profits. In the media industry, it will allow media content providers to operate outside of the need for large media corporation, which is just middlemen soaking up the majority of the revenue while providing little or nothing in return. We see this happening already on YouTube when content providers use Patreon to access funding from supporters directly. The Blockchain will allow this to happen more organically by allowing the viewer to pay micro amounts (perhaps pennies or fractions of pennies) to view or consume content. Amazon has also done this with its publishing arm and ebooks. Blockchain will let these kinds of contracts migrate to everything. How long before the Uber idea of making everyone an independent contractor, the Amazon/Uber idea of allowing everyone to rate and rank transactions and work, and the blockchain converge to create a work environment where people work as independent contractors based on blockchain contracts with specified obligations, the pay is handled by the blockchain once the work is accomplished, and the pay is modified by the quality of the work and other factors? I give it less than 20 years we should see the model mostly formed and the stragglers trying to catch up. Moving The Goalposts: IPCC Secretly Redefines what ‘Climate’ means
"“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’ ’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’ ’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.” Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass Dear IPCC, Through the Looking Glass was not a roadmap. Paying for New York’s Transit System
If New York cannot resolve this problem, it could face a trajectory as Detroit did beginning in 1970. The progressive model has run out of ideas. It is a model based on bureaucracy and waste, now that the bureaucracy and waste have consumed most of the budget of most government entities, the solution is to implement a new model which will allow the government to provide service levels similar to today but with a fraction of the costs. This will mean eliminating most of the employees and selling most of the properties. I am told daily that this will never happen, but once the pensions and wages of the sprawling bureaucracy eat most or all of the revenue and little or none of the revenue goes to the causes the progressives demand, even the progressives will become anti-government. Then all bets are off. That day is coming soon. Aussie Housing Bubble Deflating
They pop injuring everyone. The problem is governments desire to control individuals through land use planning. The outcome is a runaway economic collapse which begins slow but rapidly accelerates and moves from the housing markets into the financial markets. The destruction can be extensive and long-lasting. I expect this will reduce the standard of living for Australians by 20% and reduce their overall wealth by approximately the same amount if they are lucky. The unknown is whether the foreign buyers, most commonly Chinese will ride this out as long-term investors or if they will abandon ship and try to find more buoyant markets in which to invest their real estate assets, if the Chinese abandon ship the Australian housing market and likely its financial markets will not recover for a decade or more. The result would look like the US Great Depression. I wish them luck, but the progressives in Australia brought this on the country with their foolish land use/individual control policies. Ace of Spades HQ
The school should provide the professor to instruct the students; the testing should be done by the university without direct temporal input from the professor. The result would be students would view the professor as a tool to aid learning. This would correct many of the problems in the modern university education. Why we continue with the current malign system is beyond me when solutions are simple and cost nothing. Freedom-loving - Maggie's Farm
"There was never a majority of freedom-loving honorable Americans. People who believe in individual freedom and natural rights are a minority and always have been." "Bowl of lentils. Bread and circuses. Lots of people want freebies and "services" more than freedom. I will admit that freedom is scary, not for the faint of heart. I still think of freedom from government as an American virtue. Old-fashioned, maybe. Do people now expect government to make reality right? That will never happen, because the structure of reality is extremely difficult. Reality seems to expect us to adapt to it, rather than the other way around." Too many of us don't want the work required of liberty and personal responsibility; they want a parent to protect, swaddle, and coddle them. They want government as parent. These are the progressives, fearful worrywarts looking for the next handout, or vile harridan authoritarians looking for the next victim to bully and hector.
