How Liberal Portland Became America’s Most Politically Violent City
. . . it's a Portlandia thing, don't try and understand it, it's not possible. More below. Orthostatic hypotension: Causes, symptoms, and prevention
Stand up, sit down, fight, fight, fight. Actually, once it hits, sitting down would be a great option, often the result is the fall with injury. Mother-in-law suffered with this as she got into her later 80s. It was a serious problem particularly in light of this: The Shock of Falling Among Older Americans "Direct medical costs associated with falls have been shown to be $34 billion in 2013, an underestimate since full costs are not factored in. Using the 1998-2012 waves of the Health and Retirement Study and several econometric methods to address the endogeneity of falls, this study seeks to answer the question of how much worse physical and mental health outcomes are for individuals who fall compared to their steadier counterparts. Results across various specifications suggest that falling leads to lower activities of daily living, more depression, and more psychological problems. It leads to greater probabilities of being in poor health, having heart problems, and having a stroke. These results survive several robustness checks." Ouch. I used to sit occasionally with the "Old Ladies" at the local Starbucks. Nice group, and all in their late 80s or 90s. One by one, each would have a fall, complications would set in, and they'd be gone, sometimes only for a while, but eventually, it would catch up with them, and they'd be gone for good. Don't fall. There is a better model. Park Privatization If you want more, for less, with real accountability this is the way to go. Since it is self supporting, government shutdowns would not change the publics right to visit their National Parks. This should be extended to National Forests, BLM land, and other similar public lands. Trump denies threatening ‘Morning Joe’ hosts with National Enquirer story Because there is nothing going on in the world of importance, or more accurately, Mika, and Joe are the most important thing in the whole wide world. Sigh. Remy points out the triviality of our current 24/7/365 BS news. Trump: Repeal ObamaCare now, replace it later This is a better strategy, the repeal, and replace at the same time strategy just fuels the Democrats willingness to obstruct. Once repealed the Dems will have a reason to participate if they are allowed, as they should be. Legislation made in a vacuum is always bad, see Obamacare. But if both parties work on the issue, there is some small chance it can work out for the people. I'd prefer if the federal government just cleared out the underbrush which clogs the ability of the individual to buy the policy he wants, from the insurer he wants regardless of what the state he lives in requires.
