Success is simpler than most understand. It does not require high intelligence, an elite education, or even high falutin' connections. Sure, those can help, but they cannot guarantee success. To be successful, you must do. Being busy is not the same as doing. In the video below, the woman is always busy, but she does nothing, she is constantly distracted by the next bit of nonsense or frippery. It does not matter if you get up early in the morning or work late in the evening or both. What matters is you accomplish and work to be increasingly efficient in your work habits. The reason to work and work hard at an entry-level job and all of your jobs is to become efficient at being productive, and accomplishing. There is an idea I learned from a Navy SEAL, whatever you are doing, you are only performing at about 40% of your capacity. At first, I thought he meant that I was only working at 40% that day. So I told him how I had become more productive at job after job. He smiled and said, "True, but you are still only at 40% of your capacity." It took me a while to realize that what he was saying was true and extraordinarily powerful. He was telling me I was inefficient, and I needed to sharpen up, work harder, focus more, and be diligent, and I could improve. He was also telling me I had the potential for infinite productivity. This is where I get blowback, but infinite is the correct answer. Bill Gates is not a little more productive than you; he is infinitely more productive than you, me too. And yet, he is only achieving at 40% of his potential, as are you, as am I. Build your success muscle, focus on a task, achieve, then move on. Over time become better at doing, achieving, and expand your productivity, your ability, and ultimately your success. Don't fall for the busy trap, and become busy but unproductive. One of the shocks of my life was understanding that the work world today cultivates busy but not productivity. This is a deadly trap. Do anything necessary to stay out of this trap. Do.
