Say what? The mad genius of Elon Musk . . . to make things which do not accomplish the task intended, and money in huge lavish amounts. He is also brilliant at fueling the pending generational war. How cool is that? More below. Musk's cars do not do what the politicians believe they do, reduce the carbon footprint by using electrical energy as fuel. The battery requires the release of entirely too much carbon in its manufacture, and likely also in its deconstruction at end of life to allow these cars to ever be considered " low carbon" let along "zero carbon." And the great failure of the EPA is failing to accurately measure the amount of carbon released to provide the energy to the wheels. In this calculation, only the energy at the wheels is used, and then that energy is used to calculate the autos "mpg" and carbon release data. But this is not an accurate method. The accurate method would be to determine how much energy is needed at the power plants to provide the end energy at the wheels. This would then include line loss, and all of the other system electrical energy loss. But this would make the "mpg," and carbon release figures look terrible, even compared with gasoline autos. So, they cheat.
Electric Vehicle Mileage Fraud | Coyote Blog 100% efficiency? Right, I thought Newton addressed these Unicorn fantasies, but apparently not when applied to the religion of environmentalism. Tesla car battery production releases as much CO2 as 8 years of gasoline driving When one adds in the amount of carbon necessary to produce the electricity to drive the car, and the carbon released in deconstruction of these autos, especially the batteries, the average sized, and efficiency gasoline auto become the lower carbon choice. Don't tell Tesla drivers, they bought the car as a not so secret handshake showing they are members of the religion of Environmentalism, finding out that the cars are damaging the environment might cause cognitive frisson, sufficient to melt down the system. And we can't have that. Over the years we've learned that wind power siting releases more carbon then the wind generator could ever save. Wind farms will create more carbon dioxide, say scientists This is likely true in nearly every area, not just British peat bogs. The problem is that most wind farms are located far from anything, and need extensive roadways to bring in the turbines, they need huge concrete anchor pads so the roads must be sturdy enough to handle heavy concrete trucks, and other heavy equipment. Each windmill must have a construction pad sufficient to support the heavy equipment. And then there is the construction of the machine itself, and the carbon released in the process. Solar has other problems, but with similar results, neither can produce sufficient energy to pay for the energy, and carbon release that they cause. Hearing renewable energy is useless . . . Google engineers concluded a massive project attempting to find a way out of the trap whereby alternative energy only produces sufficient energy to manufacture, site, maintain, etc the alternative energy projects alone. "Google engineers have this to say: "At the start of RE<C, we had shared the attitude of many stalwart environmentalists: We felt that with steady improvements to today’s renewable energy technologies, our society could stave off catastrophic climate change. We now know that to be a false hope … Renewable energy technologies simply won’t work; we need a fundamentally different approach." There is more, so go read the article. What's the problem? "The key problem appears to be that the cost of manufacturing the components of the renewable power facilities is far too close to the total recoverable energy – the facilities never, or just barely, produce enough energy to balance the budget of what was consumed in their construction. This leads to a runaway cycle of constructing more and more renewable plants simply to produce the energy required to manufacture and maintain renewable energy plants – an obvious practical absurdity.'" This is the delicious absurdity of alternative energies. Perhaps far in the future we will be able to find our way out of this trap, but that does not appear to be the case today, or in the near, or middle future. Musk has latched onto the only way to make alternative energy, electric cars, and these other wizbang devices work, government largesse, in huge waves sufficient to make the system look functional. The Truth about Tesla "The Los Angeles Times calculated that Elon Musk’s three companies, Tesla Motors, SolarCity, and SpaceX, combined have received a staggering $4.9 billion in government support over the past decade. As Kerpen noted: “Every time a Tesla is sold . . . average Americans are on the hook for at least $30,000 in federal and state subsidies” that go to wealthy Tesla owners. This is crony capitalism at its worst." The truth is Musk is draining the swamp, the Treasury Swamp, the one which used to be filled with money. The same one which the Boomers are only willing to pay 3/4 of the expenditures in taxes, the other 1/4 or $ 1 trillion is borrowed. Thanks Millennials, you get to pay back this debt, and the wind farms, solar reservations, and other Unicorn fart secular religious BS will not be around to help you pay it off. No that crap will never pay off, it can't it is simple math. But then the Boomers were terrible at math. So, there you have it, Musk's genius is getting the rich Boomers what they want, and charging a significant amount of the bill to the Millennials. When the generational war begins, it will be horrible for the Boomers. They always thought they would have the power, but they forgot that the Millennials might not be so grasping, so venal, so self centered as they. The Millennials seem to be willing to live a more frugal life, lowering their tax rates, and the government receipts as well. The Boomers, on the other hand believe that the Millennials will willing pay whatever the Boomers want for retirement, and old age benefits. I'd lay in a stock of popcorn, but only after making sure my retirement was well taken care of. If you do this right, it will be lots of fun, if not, well, you might need to get used to a banquet of canned dog food.
